Here is what you need to do in order to use a Harmony One IR remote to control your RF/ IR Bose Lifestyle 28 Home Theatre Systems. As your Bose remote is strictly RF, you need to use a laptop so you can move the USB connected Harmony remote next to the Bose Media Center in order for it to “learn” commands. There is no IR emitter from the Bose remote. I wasn’t able to find any how to’s, so I figured I should write one up. So you don’t have to shell out the extra money for a Harmony remote with RF to control a Bose product.

My custom Media Center computer. It is a Pentium-D dual-core with 2 gigs of ram (doesn’t need more), wireless keyboard and mouse, bluetooth enabled, capable of being controlled by and streaming media to anything with a web browser including some phones such as the iphone. It currently has Media Center 2005 on it due to some odd incompatibilities with one of the tuners with Vista Ultimate. I have a software encoder card (the MSI) and video is pathetic in Vista. I got it to work in XP with a MCE compatible free software encoder. In addition to the media center remote, it can also be controlled from a wii controller via bluetooth, although it loses connection if it goes into standby. The dell system it’s based on powers down the USB ports during standby. Side effect is the only way to bring the system out of standby is press the power button. A workaround for this is a plugin that only shuts the monitor off with the remote. Media center 2005 is kind of flaky. It brings the system out of standby to update the guide anyway and won’t power it down again.
It’s possible i will be changing the streaming client due to incompatibility with xbmc with the current one. This will remove the need to actually use media center at all.

I have to Logitech Dual Action Gamepads connected to my PC via USB. Can I use these same remotes with the PS3 or do I have to buy extra Dualshock remotes?
Thanks
There’s an outside chance that it would work with ps2 games, just like when you plug a ps2 controller in with an adapter, but it will not work as a ps3 controller, because it won’t sync.
There is something else to consider: the ps3’s sixaxis and dualshock 3 are essentially 28-axis joysticks. The buttons are so sensitive that a pc will recognize each one as a joystick axis. That goes especially for the L2 and R2 buttons which have a special fulcrum bar that gives them a huge range of motion, making them ideal for racing and shooting games.
If your Logitech doesn’t have exactly the same buttons, including l2 and r2 buttons with a huge range of values, it wouldn’t work the same on ps3 games. It would be kind of like when I plug in my Logitech steering wheel for gran turismo and then for some reason my ps3 turns it into controller 1, and suddenly I can’t navigate in the game, or switch it back because it has no "PS" button.
This goes especially because of the numbering scheme of your gamepad. Every controller sends data from each button along a particular path resulting in Operating systems designating them "button 1," "button 2," etc. On the sixaxis, the d-pad is buttons 5,6,7 and 8. Then L2 is 9, R2 is 10, L1 is 11, and R1 is 12, triangle is 13, circle is 14, x is 15, square is 16. L3 and R3 have some mysterious designation I can’t decipher. If your Logitech doesn’t number its buttons in a similar pattern, you will have to do a lot of trial and error to figure out which button does what. And it’s likely L3 and R3 wouldn’t work at all. There will have to be a button 0 if you want to have a ‘PS" button functionality.
All those troubles aside, it might just work, kind of.
