Wii Homebrew: Wii Remote on the Wii

A few days ago a homebrew loader for the Wii was released. I just managed to get the USB interface to work, and therefore talk to the internal Bluetooth controller (which uses USB internally). This is a little demo of connecting to the wiimote. The code is basically useless, as it doesn’t use a real BT stack, but it’s a nice demo.

1. A Wiiremote
2. A home-made Infrared Pen.
3. A PC with Bluetooth (or a USB Bluetooth Dongle)
4. a GNU/Linux Distro. (ubuntu, arhlinux, fedora, etc..)
5. “Wiimote Whiteboard” Software, (You can install it by Synaptic.

In short time you can have a Interactive Screen using a LCD screen or a Video Beam. It’s Simple. Maybe I’can made my own tutorial step by step.

IR Transceiver Demo

I custom made an IRDA compatible transceiver complete with encoding/decoding.

I’m demonstrating it using my custom Axon microcontroller, and using Bluetooth to upload data to my PC.

Airsoft gun controlled by a Wii Remote

This is a little something I whipped up in a few hours. I basically attached a vex servo to the trigger of a Hi Capa 5.1 which is then connected to an arduino usb board. The usb board is connected to my laptop which is connected to the wii remote via a bluetooth connection. I wrote an application in vb.net using the wii mote managed library (I didn’t make it) that will send serial data to the usb board if the wii mote data meets a certain criteria. The gun is fired if the trigger (button B) on the wii remote is pressed or if the accelerometer in the nunchuck detects a large increase in gravity like a (punch).
