To connect a something USB to the Wii remote
I mean so that you can put a USB device into an adapter which plugs into the Wii remote.
The Wii has USB ports so you would not need an adapter that plugs into the Wii-mote to let you plug in USB devices.
There were all kinds of designs in the works before the Wii was named.
The final design of (then named) Nintendo Revolution was formed in 06 then named to the Wii.
